  • Take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 16, 2019 at EDHS.  You must take the test in 11th grade to qualify for scholarships and programs associated with the National Merit Scholarship Program. Visit the PSAT page on the counseling website for more information.
  • Attend the EDUHSD Regional College Fair at UMHS on September 24, 2019.
  • Heavily research what college might be right for you
  • Attend college rep visits in the Career Center at lunch.
  • Consider taking a leadership role in one of your activities.
  • Make sure you have a "professional" email address.

Summer Before 12th Grade:

  • Review the Ultimate Guide for Applying to College
  • Create a username and password called an FSA ID that you’ll use to confirm your identity when accessing your government financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents. Learn about the FSA ID, and create yours. Note: You must create your own FSA ID; if your parent creates it for you, that’ll cause confusion later and will slow down the financial aid application process.
  • Start narrowing down your list of colleges and consider taking campus tours to help narrow it down even more.
  • Contact the schools you are interested in and request information on applications and admissions. Ask about financial aid and deadlines.
  • Use the FAFSA4caster financial aid estimator, and compare the results to the actual costs at the colleges to which you will apply.
