Dear Parents,
I look forward to working with you as your son or daughter’s science teacher in the upcoming year. My teaching goals include carefully considering the needs of each student and helping each to develop to his or her potential. I expect all students to develop an appreciation for both science and learning in my classroom.
In order to maintain the excellent learning environment that your student deserves, I am implementing the discipline plan found in your student’s syllabus. I will not allow any student to stop the progress of the class or keep others from learning. Please read through the syllabus that your student received in class and sign to indicate your agreement.
I believe that all students can succeed in Chem A, and the most successful students are those who have the advantage of a good partnership between their family and the school. In order to achieve that, I would like to keep an open line of communication. If you have questions or concerns, email is the best way to contact me (jelkow@eduhsd.k12.ca.us). You can also reach me by phone at (530) 622-3634 x1152.
Another way to learn about what is happening in our classroom is to visit our class website: http://cougar.eduhsd.k12.ca.us/Science/jelkow/index.htm. I will post daily agendas, homework assignments, learning goals and interesting science links. Additionally, you will be receiving a letter in the next couple weeks from the school explaining how to check your student’s grades and assignments through an exciting new grading program.
I
look forward to meeting many of you at Back To School Night on September
5.
Sincerely,
Mrs.
Elkow
Please keep the above portion
